An Egyptian folk tale of a powerful man pursuing his desires

Storytellers often find that stories find them out. So it was with this tale, which I first heard about in a discussion on the Storytell listserv before discovering a version in Folktales of Egypt (edited by Hasan M. El-Shamy). The book includes extensive notes about the tale on p. 244.

Telling the greatest lie is a common motif in many folk tales. Another I tell is The King who was a Gentleman.
