When I have the pleasure of performing with fellow storyteller and harper Peter Wucherpfennig, of course I look around for tales which include that wonderful instrument. So I began last night’s halbNeun Theater performance with my first telling of this lovely Jack tale from Ireland, one which I recently found in Donegal Fairy Stories (Seamus MacManus, 1900).
So here, posted on 6th December as a St Nicholas’s Day present to lift your heart, this wonderful tale, concluding with Peter playing the Irish air “Charles O’Connor”.
The recording was made at the halbNeun Theater in 2019.
