One of many Marriott Edgar monologues which delighted 20th century British audiences. This text of the poem includes the original John Hassall illustrations.
The Runcorn-Widnes Transporter Bridge was indeed a considerable engineering feat. Finished in 1905, it was the largest of its type ever built in the world.
