I first heard this from Canadian teller Dan Yashinsky, who (I seem to remember) told me he’d heard it from a schoolboy in Canada.
Dan and I did a swap: I tell this and he now tells a tale he’d heard from me, Free Melons.

Jill Lamede (The Tintagel Storyteller) wrote that there are many versions of this joke on the internet. Jill tells the one she heard as a young girl from her mother – and that is the very best way to source your stories!

The recording was made in 2017 at the International Theater Frankfurt.
